La QUADRATURE de l'ARBRE

Avenue de Tervuren, Brussels

Coming form Tervuren the entrance to Brussels gets now defined by a sculptural group conceived by Therese Chotteau, at the Rouge-Cloître crossroads. The place is the transition between the forest and the monumental trees ordonnance of the avenue.

Therese Chotteau's artwork consists of an alignment of four bronze sculptures on the avenue's axis; its monumental value commes less from their physical size than the amplitude of the space to which they give life.

To ensure the success of this public space transmutation, Therese Chotteau rtequired the collaboration of architect Thierry Gonze. The dynamic support of the president of the Commission Artistique des Infrastructure de Déplacement (C.A.I.D.), Mme Gita Brys-Schatan, guaranteed the final realization of this project.
