A renovation of the streets in the Tomberg neighbouhood was scheduled in 1999-2000. The social housing society L'Habitation Moderne intended to join the movement with a renovation of the façades of a group of housings on Rue de la Roche Fatale and dedicating to the neighbourhood a sculpture by Therese Chotteau.
The theme of the tree is resumed here as a reference to the wooded environment of the placette, and contrasted with the human figure.
Therese Chotteau, wishing to make sure of the harmony between the sculptural project and the public space -as was notable for the Quadrature de l'Arbre- made sure the contribution of architect Thierry Gonze.
Proposition d'aménagement, Thierry Gonze, mars 1999.
The sculpture marks the symbolic limit between the shared open space of the residents and the public urban space. The boundary is even more expressed with a bouble row of pear trees lest and right of the sculpture. And the front and middle becomes a placette of convergence and meeting.
